RECONSTRUCTIONS
Bringing the past back to life.
It is very rare that archaeologists ever uncover a site in such a state of preservation that the innocent bystander would be able to interpret it without specialist knowledge. This is where archaeological reconstructions come in to play.
We probably won’t ever have a real window into the past. But by using the information from specialists as well as that uncovered during excavations, we can at least make an attempt to visualise what has since vanished and even give people a glimpse into lives long since lived.
I have produced reconstruction artwork for sites from the Ice age up to the 19th Century; the examples here have been used in books, websites, and museum displays and featured in archaeological open days around the country.
